Weld Tee

Tee is a three way fitting used to make perpendicular connection to a pipe.

Lines that connect to the main run of pipe are known as branches.

The main run of pipe is called header.

There are two types of tee used in industry :

  • Straight Tee : in this all three outlets are the same pipe size.

  • Reducing Tee : in this branch outlet is a smaller size.
Manufacturing restrictions do not allow reducing tees of all sizes. To arrive the lowest available size for reducing tees, the following thumb rule can be used.
Divide the main pipe size by 2 and take the next lower size. For eg: For NPS 4 size, the lowest available reducing tees will be 4’”x 1½” (4/2=2 next lower size is 1½” ).

The dimensions are found in Taylor Forge seamless welding fitting. charts.
